Installing The Memory

Similar to the processor you must take extra precautions when installing the RAM. Make sure you have released as much static electricity as possible by touching a piece of metal.

Before actually installing the RAM modules in your computer, check again to make sure that the RAM you have is of the correct type and speed for your motherboard. Most computers nowadays use DDR2 or DDR3 memory modules, but double-check to make sure.

Installing the RAM module is very easy. Since you are most likely installing Dual Channel memory, place the memory in Dual Channel acceptable position. Your motherboard’s manual will tell you where. Usually you’ll have four slots for memory and and two slots will be the same color. These are the Dual Channel configured slots. Open the clips so they are at a 130 degree angle or so. Slide the memory into the appropriate slot and shut the clip into the 90 degree position. That’s it!

Here’s a good video on how to install the memory.
