Installing The Power Supply

Installing the power supply can be a head ache. The most difficult part is “hiding” the wires or placing them in positions that will allow the maximum airflow for your computer. This step isn’t required but highly recommended.

The power supply unit is mounted by four screw holes on the back of the case. Depending on the case you’ve chosen, the power supply may be mounted on the bottom or top the of case; regardless of position, always ensure the fan on the power supply is pointing towards the middle of the case.

Once the power supply is mounted into place begin hooking up all the power cables for the motherboard and the CPU. As we add more components we will use more plugs. The reason we install the power supply in this step instead of later steps is it can become difficult to move the power supply around in some cases when all of the components are installed.
