Getting Started
The first step in building your computer is to determine what you want your machine to do. Do you want a computer to surf the web, check some emails and maybe play some simple games? Maybe you are on a budget but want a computer that can play the latest games and the “ULTRA” graphics setting isn’t desirable. Do you want the best of the best, ultra fast, lots of memory and hard drive space? What about your budget?
Here are the key things to consider:
What type of machine do you want?
- Mainstream Desktop
- Mid-Range / Mid Gamer
- High-End / Enthusiast Gamer
What is your budget?
- $600 and under
- $600 to $1,250
- $1,250 and up
Although it is not definitive, colors correspond to price range.
Let’s imagine you want to build a High-End Gamer for $600. It’s not possible. You’ll have to understand you are only going to be able to get what you pay for. It is possible to build a high end machine at around $1,250, but the components will be outdated faster as opposed to a high end machine that costs closer to $2,000. Remember to keep and open mind and play around with your builds before you buy it. Also, ALWAYS BE AWARE OF COMBO DEALS ON WEBSITES LIKE NEWEGG!
